Compassionate Veterinary Care for West Milford Pets

Dr. Kristie Steele and her dedicated team bring advanced diagnostics and genuine warmth to every visit.

About Us

Since opening in September 2019, Loving Care Veterinary Hospital has built something genuinely rare on Union Valley Road: a modern, fully equipped animal hospital where the technology rivals specialty clinics and the staff still knows your pet by name. Dr. Kristie Steele, DVM, leads every aspect of care with the kind of hands-on attention that earned the practice a 4.6-star rating across more than 116 patient families.

The facility was designed from the ground up to keep almost everything in-house. Digital X-rays, dental radiographs, on-site laboratory testing, ultrasound, laser therapy, and an in-house pharmacy mean fewer referrals, faster answers, and lower out-of-pocket costs for West Milford pet owners. That commitment to affordability without cutting corners is the throughline of every review clients leave.

Dogs and cats from across Northern New Jersey make the drive here because the combination of Dr. Steele's calm expertise and a staff that genuinely cares is hard to replicate. One client brought her 20-year-old dog, Buddy, when her regular vet closed unexpectedly. She found exactly what she needed. That kind of trust is what Loving Care is built on.

What We Offer

Loving Care Veterinary Hospital covers the full spectrum of preventive and diagnostic care under one roof. Wellness and preventive care visits keep healthy pets on track with age-appropriate exams and vaccinations, while digital radiographs and digital dental X-rays give Dr. Steele a precise look at what's happening beneath the surface.

For deeper diagnostics, the clinic offers on-site laboratory testing and ultrasound so results come back the same day rather than days later. Laser therapy supports pain management and healing for pets recovering from injury or surgery. The Nu Q Vet cancer screening panel is one of the more forward-thinking offerings in the area, catching potential concerns early when outcomes are best. Dental care, including cleanings and digital dental X-rays, rounds out a preventive approach that keeps pets healthy from nose to tail.

The in-house pharmacy lets clients pick up prescriptions at checkout instead of hunting down a separate supplier. Every service is priced to be accessible to the Northern New Jersey community that Dr. Steele set out to serve when she opened the doors five years ago.

"My little 8.5 dog had a tech appointment for a dis temper shot, that evening he was trying to vomit and couldn’t. Later when we came home he had chewed his tail and chewed plastic from a pee pee pad. That night he was very restless & I grew very concerned. Office was closed this Saturday so I brought him to Delta emergency hospital in Wayne, where Dr. Mike was very nice. An X-ray was taken & said nothing was wrapped around any organs and would pass out in next few days. I returned to Dr. Steel’s office 12 days later for another tech appointment for vaccine, I told the tech what had happened and asked if I could speak with the dr. After several minutes tech returned and said was going to continue with today’s visit, I said ok but is the dr going to come in? She said no she has appointments. This was very concerning that she would not even stick her head in to see us. I then told the new woman at the front desk my concern. She said I could make appt but I couldn’t make what she offered. She then said I really don’t know what the dr will be able to do for you. Maybe just wait & see if it happens again. Really? Would anyone want this to happen again to your beloved pet? This is very disappointing & disturbing how this matter was handled in this office. Also Emergency vet had sent over the X-ray and until I asked never mentioned they had received it. Don’t you think as a courtesy they would have called to see if he was ok. The emergency vet office called to check in my little boy 2x. More compassion needs to be shown in this office!"

"This review is long overdue, we took our 20 year old dog Buddy to see Dr Steele back in April of this year. We had just moved up to the area and our regular vet office closed for renovation. My dog was at the end of his life and our family was struggling with the very difficult decision before us. Dr Steele probably spent hours on the phone with us, we were trying to keep him comfortable and we just really needed a professional to stay in touch with at a very difficult time. I can't thank her enough for her compassion and patience with us. Sorry I didn't get around to posting this review sooner."

Frequently Asked Questions

What animals does Loving Care Veterinary Hospital treat?

The hospital cares for dogs and cats. If you have questions about a specific breed or age group, call the office and a team member will be happy to discuss your pet's needs before your first visit.

What are your hours?

The clinic is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM; Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM; and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The office is closed on Sunday.

Do you have an in-house pharmacy?

Yes. Loving Care operates an in-house pharmacy so you can fill your pet's prescription at checkout rather than making a separate trip to an outside supplier.

What is Nu Q Vet cancer screening?

Nu Q Vet is a blood-based cancer screening panel that looks for early markers of certain cancers in dogs. Dr. Steele recommends it as part of a proactive wellness approach, especially for middle-aged and senior dogs, because early detection significantly improves outcomes.

Can you handle lab work and X-rays on the same day as my appointment?

In most cases, yes. The facility has on-site laboratory testing and digital radiograph equipment, so Dr. Steele can often review results during or shortly after your visit rather than waiting days for an outside lab to report back.

What areas do you serve?

The primary service area is West Milford, NJ, and the surrounding communities of Northern New Jersey. Many clients travel from nearby towns because of the combination of advanced in-house technology and the quality of care Dr. Steele and her team provide.
